I just released an new Version of CuteFlow.

The new version 2.10.2 brings a lot of critical bugfixes, smaller improvements like a RSS-Feed for open circulations and updated languages.

after a long long time i just managed to get released a new version of the CD-ROM webserver Server2Go.

The reason for the long development time was that I had a lot of other things to do that need my attention. The deadline of my symfony book and I hold some workshops for PHP and Symfony. But the book is done so I have more time for Server2Go in the near future, so i hopefully can release a new version more often.

But now what is new in the version 1.6.0:

* PHP Update to 5.2.6
* Improved Proxy override
* Update Apache to 2.2.6
* Update Apache to 2.0.61
* Allows encryption of database in source folder
* Support for portable firefox (see wiki for more information on how to do)
* The shutdown message is customisable

qooxdoo version 0.8.0alpha1 released

The team of the qooxdoo javascript framework has released the first alpha of the version 0.8.0. The new version is still far from feature complete but gives us the possibility to test some of them. The qooxdoo RIA framework has widgets that are comparable with the feature set of ExtJS. All of you who were upset about the license change of ExtJS take a look at qooxdoo, it can be a proper alternative.

Here are some PHP links from the last week that might be interessting for you:

Netbeans as a PHP IDE: With the release of the version 6.1 of Netbeans there is an early access version of PHP-Support available. It's looking promising and I think with the release of Netbeans 6.5 later this year it will be comparable with the PHP Supoort of eclipse.
The APC-Caching-Extension was released in version 3.0.19. This is mainly a bugfix release but there is first support for the upcoming version 5.3 of PHP too.
There was a bugfixing and security release 1.0.16 of the stable version of the MVC-Framework Symfony.
The Zend Framework was updated to version 1.5.2 that has about 50 fixes.

New Server2Go Version

i released a new version of server2go last friday. This version brings a lot of new stuff

First step to full Vista-Support (forces admin rights to run, will hopefully be non-admin in the future)
Fixing bug if Server2Go is started in directory with spaces and the option startLocal set to 1
Fixing bug with firefox startup
Fixing bugs with MySQL shutdown. Make it more reliable. Data-Folder is now deleted correctly
Improving and fixing Bugs with mysql startup
New Splash and icon
Updated phpmyadmin to 2.10.3 and fixing missing tables
Support for SeaMonkey
New Environment variables "S2G_BASE_URL", "S2G_APACHE_PORT", "S2G_MYSQL_PORT" (see documentation for more details)

The only problem is that the new version introduces some errors with phpmyadmin. Because of this i'm releasing a bug-fix version right at the moment (v.1.5.1)

After many many many user feedbacks that bothered me to write a MAC OSX version of server2go, i now have a mac system in my hands. Now i can start to write a mac version. Don't expect it in the next few months. It will take some time to get confortable with the MAC development. So it will take some time... But the first step is made :-)

And i promise not to drop support for windows ;-) I still working active on the development of server2go on the windows plattform :-)

CuteFlow and Server2Go updates

it's time for news. First: There has been a release of a new bugfix version of CuteFlow last week. This version should solve a lot of problems. There will be a language update in the next days, that brings all language file up to date. Hopefully this was then the last release of CuteFlow before the completly rewritten version 3.0.0.

Second: I have uploaded a new version of server2go some days ago. This version brings the following changes:

- Fixing a bug that prevents the proper deletion of the local database folder directory in some cases

- You can set another config file via the commandline interface (i.e. server2go.exe -config xyz.ini)

- A lot of people wished this feature and here it is: You can now set a password for securing the used mysql database. Please take a look at this FAQ: http://www.server2go-web.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3869

Server2Go and CuteFlow again

Hello all,

there are a lot of news today.

1.) Server2Go get "digged": The server2go site has digged 12 days ago. That is a great thing for me. The big problem is that there were thousands of visitors in a short time and in addition thousands of downloads of server2go iself. That was to much for the server of my hoster :-) There were a lot of server downs this day. I bought an additional hosting apckage for downloads at the same day so that shouldn't happen any more. Though the hosting costs are even higher now :-(

2.) CuteFlow has its own digg story too. Take a look at this

3.) I released a new version of CuteFlow some days ago. The new version 2.9.0 solves a lot of problems of the old version. More details can be found on the new cuteflow homepage

4.) I uploaded a new version of server2go some minutes ago. The new versions brings some new features (progressba on startup and shutdown) and fixes some very critical bugs. You can find the new version on the server2go page.

Hello all Server2Go users!

There are some news arround Server2Go:

1.) There will be a new release of Server2Go available under http://www.server2go-web.de in some hours (upload is running).
The release adds some bugfixes an new features.

- Fixing Server2Go's version informations
- Update PHP to 5.2.3
- Update MySQL 5.0.41 (Downgradepackage to 4.x available via VIP downloads)
- Updated PHP4 downgrade package to 4.4.7
- Possibility of adding additional files for parsing in the config ini.
- Fixing problem with not accessable phpmyadmin

2.) I'm pretty happy that i found someone who is working on the vista support of Server2Go. So it looks pretty good that we will have Vista-support in the next version.

3.) To open or not to open. I must say that there were a lot of answers to my last newsletter where i mentioned to open-source Server2Go.
Curiously most of them didn't tell me that open-sourcing is a good idea! Instead there are pretty much requests on not doing so. So at the moment i tend not to open the sourceode anymore.

More work on cuteflow

It's done. After a lot of work, there is a new homepage for the CuteFlow project. The new homepage comes at the same time as the new release of CuteFlow which brings a lot of new features and will be one of the last versions before the V3 that will be the next big step in the CuteFlow development. Cause the V3 is a lot of work we are quite happy that with Chris and Zaheed two more developers joined the development team.

It is done! After a long long time i have managed to finish the version 1.4.0 of server2go

The new version of server2go is ready to download. V.1.4.0 brings a lot of improvements, bugfixes and features. Please take a look at the changlog online on the server2go project page.

I hope that the next version doesn't need ass much time as the last one. I must say sorry for the long delay of 1.4.0 to so many people. But i had little spare time for developing server2go the last month.

Yes i am still alive. After a long period of time i will restart blogging here again. The last few month brought some remarkable changes in my life. So there was little time in writing blogs.

First of all i switched my employer so there was some time with lot of new work. The second thing eating up much of my spare time is that i am building a house. Currently we are at the last finishing tasks to do.

Since my last blog only some new versions of CuteFlow were released but never blogged here. So we are at version 2.6.3 in the meantime.

I hope to get back to all of my projects in february. There will be the long awaited version 1.4.0 of server2go, a new release of cuteflow then. I will get back to writing on my Symfony book too. Also some new things are in the planning pipe, so stay tuned.

New release of CuteFlow

I just released a new version of CuteFlow. The version 2.0.0 brings a lot of new features and bugfixes we wanted to release for a long time. The new version is the base of the upcoming new versions.

There is a lot of work on CuteFlow at the moment, so you can expect more releases in the near future. The version 2.5.0 is work in progress at the moment and will bring a lot of cool new features. Stay tuned!

New version of server2go

After one month i managed to get the release 1.3.0 of the CD-ROM webserver package Server2Go out of the door. There are some new features and bugfixes. And i made a "mini"-package of server2go that only comes with the needed files of Apache and MySQL. This mini-package can be used on cds with 50MB (card cd).

New adventure

After writing around 20 articles in german PHP- and computer magazines i decided to write my first book some time ago. After looking around for a publisher i found more than one and more than one possible subjects. Last week i made my decision! I'm starting to write this week :-) The subject of the book? I will tell you later ;-) For now: It will be a book settled in the big world of PHP Enterprise Development and it will be available in german at the end of this year or at the beginning of next year.

Hello all,

i just released a new version of the selfconfigurating WAMP-Webserver-Package Server2Go. The new release 1.2.0 brings a lot of bugfixes and new features like new Versions of PHP and Apache.

There is also some new tools available for donators: The SimpleBrowser is now a bit more configurable you can now change the icon of the browser too.

Ans there is the first step toward a configuration application for the Server2Go main package. At the moment the only thing you can configure is the icon that is used for the Server2Go exe file and the tray icon

Hello all,

there is a new release of Server2Go available under http://www.server2go-web.de.
Thw release adds some bugfixes an new features.

Changelog:

- Fixing bug with Browser startup on NT 4
- New started browser now comes up as foreground-window (hopefully on all windows versions)
- Possibility to change the used IP Address for Server and Browser window
- Possibility to use transparent splash screens
- Possibility to define the pathes to webserver, database and configuration files. With these options you can use server2go for other server packages like XAMPP
- Activated the mysqli extension by default
- If running from CD, the CD-Tray will be locked till server is shut down.

Hello all,

i finished a new version of my JavaScript Form validation Framework jsVal over the weekend. The new version fixes some long outstandig bugs. I'm planning to do more work on jsVal again in the next weeks. One of the reasons is that i'm writing an article about form validation with jsVal for the german magazin "PHPMagazin".

And i tuned the SimpleBrowser a little bit again. You can now configure more UI dependend things like ShowScrollbars, the window size at startup and more. SimpleBrowser is available for all who doneted to Server2Go

New Version of SimpleBrowser

Hello Server2Go users,

i have just released a new version of the SimpleBrowser, that is available as an additional download to the Server2Go package (for donators only!).

The new version of SimpleBrowser is now configurable in some ways. With a simple graphical user interface you can change the default url, the windows title, the text in the about dialog and some switches to show the menu in the browser or not.

If you need a more configuratebale Browser for your Server2Go-based Application i will recommend DiscStarter (commercial licence) from mirabyte. This browser plays very nice withs Server2Go and is available under http://www.discstarter.com/

And there are news for Server2Go too. There will be a new release within the next two weeks, fixing some bugs.

i have released a new maintainace release of Server2Go some hours ago. The new release brings support for Apache 1.3.24 and PHP 5.1.2. The innod support of mysql is improved too and there is a FAQ available online , that describes how to activate innodb.

New version of Server2Go

I released a new version of the self configuring webserver Server2Go yesterday. It's the first stable version of the software. Even if there is much to do for future versions Server2Go is working reliable on the most plattforms. I added support for windows 98 in the current release.

New in this release:
- Windows 98 support
- Better Perl/CGI handling
- some smaller bugfixes and improvements

And i found the time to update one of the VIP Download packages. The catalog script is available now.

I'm working hard on a new version of the CD-ROM Webserver Server2Go. I think there will be a new version in the next few days. So far i have done some improvements with the Perl integration and working now on one of the oldest problems of Server2Go: The ability of running under Windows 98 and Me. I made some good progress but there are problems to solve, but i do my best to solve them in the next days...
